Charity Beneficiary

The Card & Payments Awards has a long history of supporting charities through the Awards night raffle. Since the first awards, we have raised vital funds for First Love Foundation, Anthony Nolan, MS Society, NSPCC, Teenage Cancer Trust, Samaritans, Mencap, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Shelter and Young Minds.

For 2023 we will be supporting Childline - an NSPCC service.

Childline is the UK's free, 24-hour helpline for children and young people and is a life changing NSPCC service.

Childline gives children and young people access to confidential support when they need it and ensures they have someone to turn to when they are in distress or danger.

For more than 35 years, Childline has evolved to meet the needs of children throughout the UK and Channel Islands.  Over the past three years the process of change has been accelerated by the pandemic, but the long-term trend towards online chats and away from telephone calls continues to impact the ways in which Childline supports children when they need it most.

Childline is currently counselling around 550 children a day: children struggling with the challenges of day-to-day life.  They contact us to talk about mental health, suicidal thoughts, family relationships, self-harm, and, sadly, to disclose their experiences of abuse and neglect.  Counselling sessions are becoming longer than ever before, as the children who reach out to us want deeper and more meaningful conversations.

The majority of Childline counselling sessions are still delivered by our dedicated volunteers based across the UK, supported by our staff.

It currently costs £35,000 to run Childline for a day.
